Welcome to the American Council of the Blind of Minnesota

Empowering people who are blind or have limited eyesight to live independently,
pursue their goals, and connect with a statewide community.

Who We Are

The American Council of the Blind of Minnesota (ACBM) is a nonprofit organization
dedicated to improving the lives of people who are blind or have limited eyesight
across Minnesota.

We provide resources, community connections, and advocacy to help our members:

  • Live independently with confidence and dignity
  • Pursue personal and professional interests without barriers
  • Access local, state, and national services through a trusted network

ACBM was founded in the early 1970s as the Gopher State Blind Association and formally
affiliated with the American Council of the Blind in the early 1980s. We are a
501(c)(3) nonprofit – all donations are tax-deductible.
